About Us
Canadian Blood Services is responsible for managing the nation's lifeline product supply. We collect, test and manufacture blood and blood products, including red blood cells, platelets and plasma for transfusion. We distribute these blood products to health care providers for the treatment of patients across Canada. The Sudbury Plasma donor center collects plasma from donors across our region. A majority of the donated plasma is used for a process called fractionation, where plasma is manufactured into plasma-derived products which are used to treat bleeding disorders, burns, and immune deficiencies.
